A-A-50271 is the latest version of the military specification relating to nameplates for “Plate Identification.” It replaces the canceled version MIL-P-514D. This specification covers nameplates for attachment to equipment to provide identification and additional, data.  A-A-50271 is broken down into different compositions and classes.

Composition A (Non-Ferrous Base Alloy Metal)

  • Class 1    Copper (Navalor Leaded Brass)
  • Class 2    Aluminum
  • Class 3    Magnesium

Composition C (Photo Sensitive Metal)

A-A-59485, Military Nameplates, Labels, & Decals

A-A-59485 is the latest version of the military specification related to labels for “Aerospace Identification and Marking.” It replaces the canceled version MIL-P-38477A. This specification covers Pigmented or Clear Polyester Plastic Film, with a pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive applied to one side. Marking material covered by this specification shall be of the following “Types” & “Classes”;

  • Type 1   Non-Perforated
  • Type 2   Perforated
  • Class I &Plain
  • Class II   With protective masking sheet applied to the face side of the marking material.

MIL-DTL-19834C is the current version of the military specification relating to “Plates used for Identification or Instruction using Adhesive Backed Metal Foil.” It replaces the canceled military specification MIL-P-19834C
This specification covers adhesive backed foil for use on both internal and external equipment for identification or instruction. The specification is broken down in different “Types”.

  • Type 1    (Aluminum Foil with Pressure Sensitive Adhesive with Removable Liner)
  • Type 2    (Aluminum Foil with Solvent Activated Adhesive Back)

MIL-DTL-43719D is the latest version of the military specification related to labels for “Material Marking and Markers, Adhesive, Elastomeric and Pigmented Materials” This version replaces the cancelled version MIL-M-43719C. This specification covers adhesive backed polyester or vinyl labels and decals. The marking materials will be of the following types and classes.

  • Type I   (Pressure Sensitive Adhesive)

MIL-P-6906B is an inactive military specification that is still valid until a replacement military specification is produced. This specification covers “Identification Plates for Aircraft Instruments, Accessories, Major Structural Aircraft Assemblies and Aircraft Equipment.” Aircraft identification shall be of the following “Types.”

  • Type 1 – Plate, Identification Blank
  • Type 2 – Plate, Identification per drawings MS27253
