UL Recognized Labels

Assuring consumers around the country that their appliances and products are UL approved and certified is crucial in distributing trusted goods. American Nameplate will become your trusted Underwriter Laboratories label manufacturer, customizing metal nameplates, decals and labels to affix to your appliances. Choose between Type R and Type L labels as well as the material of your metal nameplate to get started.

What Are UL Approved Labels?

UL labels are required signage for many household appliances and items. Products that have warnings or cautionary advisories, installation information, electrical ratings and other safety details will boast a UL recognized metal nameplate. Sometimes they even include information about where the item or appliance should be stored, what kind of weather exposure it can handle and how it could react to the presence of chemicals.

Electronics and household appliances are commonly equipped with UL nameplates and decals. Some examples that are found in your home include:

  • Light bulbs
  • Standing light fixtures
  • Cooking equipment
  • Control panels
  • Office furniture
  • Refrigerators
  • Computers
  • Generators

Types of Adhesive UL Classified Nameplates

Some products require certain words to be printed on the UL label, while other items may only need to provide the safety warnings and information. These are broken down into two categories — Type R UL labels and Type L UL labels. Type R nameplates are tested by UL and recognize the components of a UL item. They are extremely flexible and are furnished and produced with an adhesive backing to stick to the appliance. Type L decals include the technicalities of products. “Listed” or “Classified” will be marked on the label, which will also include an issue, control or printed or stamped serial number along the side.
